The Ship Inn, Irvine: Fine Scottish Fayre
March 18, 2008 · Print This Article
The Ship Inn in Irvine, located on the scenic harbour-side on the once famous port town has a warm cosy atmosphere with friendly staff. The Ship Inn boasts to be the oldest pub in Irvine although now there main business is in serving great quality traditional Scottish food. On a resent trip to England for a special occasion we had the opportunity to meet some old friends that used to live near Irvine and the conversation for most of the evening was on how good The Ship Inn was, is and will continue to be.
The menu is varied and is great value for money. I personally recommend the chicken breast stuffed with garlic cream cheese and wrapped in pastry served with seasonal vegetables. I have not had desert as I find the portions very satisfying. You usually have to book during the week as it gets very busy and on a Saturday and Sunday it is first come first served so get there early.
There is also a nice outside seated smoking area where you can take in the lovely views of the sea.
During Monday-Friday the Main Menu is served from 12:00pm-2:15pm and 5:30pm-9:00pm.
On Saturday and Sunday the Main Menu is served all day.
From 2:15pm - 5:00pm Monday - Friday an Afternoon Menu is available.
