Came accross your article whislt searching for a decent Indian restaurant to visit during our recent golfing trip to Ayrshire.

Our first attempt to eat at the Rupee was thwarted as we arrived at 23:15 and the restaurant was closing. The advice therefore is book in advance or arrive before 22:30 as this place can be busy..

We booked for Saturday night and were not dissapointed. Your comments regarding the food and ambience are all spot on. Highly recommended

I've heard the rooms here are very good. I have eaten here quite a few times over the years, but the food is usually very disappointing. The welcome however is always warm and they have a great selection of whiskies and decent ales. Not quite perfect, but has the potential!

I can't fault the food at the Rupee Room in Wellington Square but just recently I have found the formerly funny and very friendly service to be rather terse and strained. Perhaps there just aren't enough servers or maybe their tempers get squeezed as they squirm through impossibly small spaces between tables, but I have not appreciated the change. Unfortunately I am not the only person with a similar perception: I have spoken to several people who have felt the service has gone 'off the boil' here.
