Our first attempt to eat at the Rupee was thwarted as we arrived at 23:15 and the restaurant was closing. The advice therefore is book in advance or arrive before 22:30 as this place can be busy.. We booked for Saturday night and were not dissapointed. Your comments regarding the food and ambience are all spot on. I have eaten here quite a few times over the years, but the food is usually very disappointing. The welcome however is always warm and they have a great selection of whiskies and decent ales. Perhaps there just aren't enough servers or maybe their tempers get squeezed as they squirm through impossibly small spaces between tables, but I have not appreciated the change. Unfortunately I am not the only person with a similar perception: I have spoken to several people who have felt the service has gone 'off the boil' here.
