Events in Ayrshire

Ayrshire is home to many of the greatest events in Scotland. There always seems to be a multitude of choices when one is deciding what they would like to do.
The Largs Jazz Festival offers a fantastic three days of Jazz filled music. The festival is held in the middle of the Ayrshire countryside. Every year the Largs Jazz Festival grows. The event is great for families being extremely child friendly.
The Largs Viking Festival is a world renowned event lasting for more than a week. Celebrating the great victory of the Battle of Largs in 1263, the Largs Viking Festival includes music, dancing, markets, fireworks, and a reenactment of the epic battle. A Viking longship is traditional burned to represent sending the true Viking warriors to the spiritual halls of Valhalla.
The Burns an’ a’ That festival celebrates Robert Burns. The Burns Festival includes some of the biggest names in Scottish comedy and music. The festival is held in several locations around Ayrshire giving the festival visitors the opportunity to explore much of Ayrshire while enjoying the many activities the festival has to offer.
The Scottish Sailing Institute holds the Laser SB3 National Championships. This event draws the best of the best in sailing. The Royall Yachting Association chose Largs as the Scottish “Centre of Excellence.” The clubhouse is one of the best in the country boasting a large bar and restaurant overlooking spectacular views. There are many accommodations within walking or biking distance of the sailing area.
The Marymass Folk Festival includes a festival of light procession and fireworks display. The Marymass Folk Festival showcases folk bands from all over Ayrshire. The conclusion to the Marymass Folk Festival gives guests the chance to compete in two World Championships; the World Whammy Diddling Championship and the World Chuckie Chucking Championship.
