Entertainment in Ayrshire

There is much to do in Ayrshire for both natives and tourists in the way of Entertainment. Be it Shakespeare or the modern cinema and productions, there is something for everyone.

The Palace Theatre and Grand Hall complex or Kilmarnock is made up of a 900 seat concert hall, a 503 seat theatre, rehearsal rooms, exhibition rooms, art halls, a café bar, and reception meeting rooms. The Palace offers a Youth Theatre programme which includes learning the history of theatre.

The Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine, North Ayrshire offers performances by professional and amateur groups. The new arts centre has two studio spaces available for multiple uses, a theatre, art gallery and café bar. Enhanced with a glorious light work by Steve Hollingsworth, as the tide levels in the harbor change so do the colours of the lights.

A unique collection of handmade arts and crafts, as well as a wide range of painting in most mediums is kept at the Cat’s Moustache gallery. The gallery speacilises in work that promotes local talent and less known artists. Some of the original crafts include calligraphy, jewellery, ceramics, wood work, and glass. The Cat’s Moustache regularly runs exhibitions and demonstrations for free.

At the Ayr Racecourse families can enjoy a day together. The Ayr Racecourse offers year round racing, as well as holding both National Hunt and Flat fixtures. The Coral Scottish Grand National and The Ayr Gold Cup Festival are both held at the Ayr Racecourse.
Ayrshire has three main clubs dedicated to watching both birds and butterflies. Their local websites contain a comprehensive list of bids and butterflies one can find in and around Ayrshire.
