Ayr Race Course: Grand National Fever
March 15, 2008 · Print This Article
A known date in the diary this year for all race fans is the 18th and 19th April, Scottish Grand National weekend. But for those of us that don’t pen that date in our calender maybe it’s time we did. Long gone are days of when a day at the races meant standing in the rain and running back and forth to the bookmakers. That’s still usually what happens at most race tracks but Ayr Race Course have decided to do it differently. With over 20,000 people expected to venture into Ayr for the race weekend the organizers have decided to entertainment the flock of race goers with an opening day musical festival with Irish legendary folk rockers The Saw Doctors.
If you’re heading down to Ayr that weekend why not stay in the Ramada Jarvis Ayr hotel where it’s known that all the famous jockeys and trainers stay while in Ayr. If you want to get a good sleep away from the crowds of party mad race goers then we’d recommend the Portland Marine Hotel in Troon where you could also schedule in a round of golf on the Sunday morning at one of Troon’s many golf courses. For those looking for a budget room then why not check out the great prices at the Daviot Guest House or the national chain of Travelodge, situated on the outskirts of Ayr location is ideal for the race course only a 15 minute walk away.
